Business Development Manager

FMR is Myanmar’s leading business information and advisory company. Established in 2014, our experience spans multiple sectors including energy, finance, real estate, construction, transport, industry, infrastructure, e-commerce and retail.

We produce a range of customised and subscription-based research and advisory services, taking a bottom-up approach that uses primary information gathered by our full-time staff in Yangon. Our team includes Myanmar and international consultants with a variety of backgrounds.

Thanks to our continuous on-the-ground presence in Myanmar over the past eight years, FMR draws on an extensive network of contacts across different industries, plus a unique in-house archive of datasets and information. Our clients include private-sector companies across various sectors, plus advisers, law firms, banks, investors, IFIs, embassies and other organisations.

We currently operate four subscription services: the Myanmar Energy Monitor, theMyanmar Real Estate and Construction Monitor, theMyanmar Transport Infrastructure Monitor, and theMyanmar Financial Services Monitor.

We are now looking to fill a senior role to lead our Business Development team. The position will contribute directly to growing our business in Myanmar, offering an opportunity to be part of an established business with a strong reputation and wide client base.

The role spans a range of skillsets, including business development, sales, client management and research, networking and more.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Contacting and meeting potential clients
  • Presenting FMR’s subscription and customised research services
  • Drafting proposals and negotiating contracts
  • Managing ongoing client relationships
  • Managing other business development staff
  • Providing ideas on product and service development
  • Working closely with our research and editorial team

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 10 years of experience in a related role
  • Be able to show a successful track record in business development/sales
  • Have experience leading a team of people
  • Already be based in Myanmar or SE Asia
  • Be commercially driven, dynamic and outgoing
  • Be fluent in English, with Myanmar language an added asset
  • Be familiar with the type of services being offered by FMR 

 

Location: Yangon, orremote working, with subsequent relocation to Myanmar

Start date: May 2022
